The Franciscan Brothers came to Mountbellew in 1818 and established the first agricultural college in Ireland in 1904 at Mountbellew. Since then, the college has expanded its courses and operations down through the years. The college co-operates with Teagasc, Galway Mayo Insitute of Technology (GMIT) and Galway/Roscommon ETB in the delivery of courses. Excellent educational and recreational facilities have been established at the college and it is planned to continue to expand the range of courses and facilities.
